Man arrested on drug possession, assault charges
WOODSTOCK — A local man with a history of misdemeanor assault charges was arrested Tuesday on charges of heroin possession with intent to distribute and assault and battery.
Francisco Jorge Montalvo, 25, formerly of New Market, was arrested after he allegedly struck another man’s face, forehead, jaw and mouth multiple times, the criminal complaint states, breaking the victim’s glasses in the process.
When a Woodstock police officer arrested Montalvo, the complaint states, 17 individual packets of heroin were found. The complaint also alleges that Montalvo admitted to possessing the heroin with intent to sell it.
Montalvo is facing two other assault charges and a trespassing charge from earlier this year. On April 27, he was accused of assaulting a man who had physically stepped in to stop Montalvo from assaulting his ex-girlfriend at George’s chicken processing plant in Edinburg. Montalvo was not arrested after this incident, but a criminal complaint was filed.
Then, on May 6, Montalvo allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend’s mother when he went to their house and was asked to leave the residence. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was charged with trespassing and assault and battery.
There was also a complaint filed against Montalvo on May 17 alleging that on May 16 he had assaulted a woman and her friend, his girlfriend at the time, after they tried to calm him down and he refused to leave the residence.
According to the bail determination form, Montalvo also has a criminal record of assaulting a family member from 2014, arson from 2012, and threats to bomb or burn from 2013. There were also three probation violations from 2015.
Montalvo is being held without bond at Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail. His next court date is scheduled for today in Shenandoah County General District Court.
