Guns stolen from hardware store
Authorities say one or more suspects stole numerous firearms from a hardware store near Stephens City early Wednesday.
Frederick County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an alarm at Miller Hardware Store, 208 Centre Drive, at approximately 2 a.m. Wednesday, according to information from Capt. Aleck Beeman. Deputies discovered the front door glass had been broken.
The suspect or suspects took an undetermined number of firearms from the business. Deputies, assisted by tracking dogs, searched the area but did not find any suspects.
Authorities believe at least five firearms were stolen but store employees need to check the inventory to determine the exact number of items taken from the business, Beeman said Friday.
Authorities also are seeking surveillance camera footage from neighboring businesses that might help investigators identify suspects.
