Mount Jackson man arrested on heroin distribution charges
WOODSTOCK — The Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Mount Jackson man on Monday and charged him with heroin distribution after an investigation into a drug overdose.
Brandon Wayne Eppard, 27, is accused of selling heroin to a man on July 1 who overdosed an hour later. The man was found unconscious but was revived shortly afterward, the criminal complaint states. The man then told authorities that Eppard was the one who sold him the drugs.
The criminal complaint also alleges that phone records corroborate the drug transaction between the two. According to bail determination documents, Eppard said that his phone number changed in January and the number used in communication with the drug user was not his own. That number is also connected to Eppard’s Facebook Messenger, the document states.
There was drug paraphernalia in Eppard’s home, and the material was consistent with personal use, the court document states. Eppard has a criminal record of marijuana distribution and petit larceny, both misdemeanors.
Eppard was released from jail on a $7,500 secured bond. A preliminary hearing has been set for July 28 in Shenandoah County General District Court.
