Most people receive a thoughtful present or a card on their wedding anniversary. Evelyn Burner got $1 million.

Burner, a Mount Jackson native, won $1 million in the Virginia Lottery’s 20X the Money scratch off, according to a Virginia Lottery news release. She also won $10 on another 20X the Money scratcher she purchased at the same time.

Burner bought the tickets at a 7-Eleven at 10935 North Valley Pike in Broadway, where, according to a store employee, she is a regular and a “very nice lady.”

The news release also stated that Burner had two options for collecting her winnings: “taking the full $1 million prize over 30 years or a one-time cash option of $657,030 before taxes. She chose the cash option.”

The million dollar ticket sold by the 7-Eleven is the largest winning ticket sold by that store. For selling the winning ticket, that 7-Eleven will receive a $10,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery.

The news release noted that Burner, who is a nurse, said she has no immediate plans for the winnings.

“I’ll still go to work, still help people,” she told the Virignia Lottery.
