Jury trial set for father accused of shooting daughter
FRONT ROYAL — A new jury trial has been set in the case against a local man accused of shooting his daughter in the face in August 2015.
A jury trial had been set for July 31-Aug 2 in the case against Allen Julian Whitehead Jr., 55, but Commonwealth’s Attorney Brian Madden and Whitehead’s attorney, David Silek, agreed to postpone the trial to a later date. Whitehead is facing malicious and unlawful wounding charges, as well as charges of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, reckless handling of a firearm and discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling.
Silek told the court that he expects the case to take two full days to try, with jury deliberations on the third day, as there are a total of 10 witnesses expected to testify.
The new three-day jury trial has been set for Feb. 26-28 in Warren County Circuit Court. Whitehead remains out on bond until his trial date.
