Man arrested on aggravated sexual battery charge
WOODSTOCK — The Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Ashburn man Tuesday in connection with an investigation into an allegation that he sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl on a go-kart ride.
On May 13, Gabriel Gonzalez Reyes, 29, took the girl to ride on a go-kart at a property on Dry Run Road in Fort Valley, the criminal complaint against him states. Reyes assaulted the girl during the ride, even though the victim pushed his hand away “on several occasions,” the complaint alleges. The complaint also states that Reyes offered the girl up to $100 to “let him keep his hand warm.”
Reyes was charged with aggravated sexual battery of a victim less than 13 years old, a felony that carries a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment and a $100,000 fine. A preliminary hearing has been set for Sept. 21 in Shenandoah County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.
