Construction has begun on the TownePlace Suites Hotel by Marriott in Front Royal.

Warren County recently approved the full building permit and walls have already started to go up for the hotel, said Jason Aikens, vice president of the family-owned Aikens Group.

H&W Construction, an Aikens Group company, is building the TownePlace Suites, which will be operated by Aikens Corp. upon its opening. Aikens Corp. is a subsidiary of the Aikens Group. TownePlace Suites is being built in the U.S. 340-522 corridor off of Country Club Road and Caroline Drive.

“It’s nice to get the project approved,” Aikens said.

The Aikens Group is already the franchisee for eight hotels, including the Hampton Royal in Front Royal.

Aikens anticipates the hotel will be completed in the winter of 2018.

TownePlace Suites is designed to be an extended stay property for those who need a place to call a temporary home for longer than the standard week to two week stay but who do not need a length of time covered  by a leased space.

“We felt the market needed an extended stay property,” Aikens said.

The hotel is designed to be 55,472 square-feet and sits on a 1.7-acre site.

There are 84 kitchenette suites planned, outdoor pools and outdoor social gathering areas, Aikens said. There will be a business center for anyone needing access to computers and other office equipment.
