Front Royal man dies in crash
State police report a Front Royal man died at the scene of a motorcycle crash on Saturday evening.
Charles D. Ford, 50, of Front Royal, was driving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Route 340 near Snake Road in Warren County when the crash occurred at 7:23 p.m. Saturday, according to Corinne Geller, public relations director for the state police.
“A Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling south on Route 340 when it ran off the left side of the highway, went into the ditch and struck the embankment,” Geller stated in a news release.
Ford was wearing a helmet. Geller stated that speed was a factor. Trooper M.A. Lawson is investigating the crash.
Geller noted that state police investigated eight highway deaths on Saturday and this crash was one of two fatalities involving motorcycles.
