Portion of Middletown’s Main Street closed Sunday

Middletown’s Main Street will be closed Sunday for its second annual Farm-to-Table event.

U.S. 11 will be closed from 2:30 to about 7 p.m. Sunday for the community event, Police Chief Gary Benedict Jr. said.

Drivers heading south are advised to go up First Street to Church Street and then follow Church Street to either Third, Fourth or Fifth street. Drivers heading north are advised to go east on Third Street then north on Church and come back west on First Street, essentially driving a square, Benedict said.

He urged drivers to use caution when in the area on Sunday.

“Be aware that there will be a lot of pedestrians on the street,” he said.

Middletown Mayor Charles Harbaugh, the event’s organizer, said all 225 tickets were sold. The event has raised $15,000 so far to go toward NW Works, a nonprofit organization that works to place about 145 adults with disabilities into vocational training and jobs.

Tables will be set up on the road and ticket holders will come together to enjoy each other’s company and a multi-course meal with hors d’ oeuvres of crab cakes and sausage rolls, salad, a main entree of stuffed chicken breast served with sage and toasted walnut pesto potatoes and roasted squash and caramel apple cheesecake for dessert.

Musician Robbie Limon, a Middletown resident, will be entertaining the crowd.
