Man sentenced in child endangerment, DUI case
WOODSTOCK — A Front Royal man who pleaded guilty in September to DUI and child endangerment charges was sentenced on Wednesday to 27 months in jail.
James Robert Eury, 45, was arrested after driving an all-terrain vehicle while intoxicated with his two young children, aged 1 and 4 years old, as passengers on Father’s Day, June 18. At the time of arrest, he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.16, which is twice the legal limit. Eury was charged with his third DUI offense, driving while being a habitual DUI offender, and two counts of child endangerment.
He was sentenced to a total of 12 years imprisonment. The 27 months that he will spend in jail includes six months and five days that is the mandatory minimum sentence for a third DUI conviction. Eury’s driver’s license was also suspended indefinitely as a result of the conviction. He must also complete three years of supervised probation upon his release. Eury has been incarcerated since his June 18 arrest.
