Front Royal teen arrested on child porn charges

Shawn Williams

FRONT ROYAL — A local teen was arrested Friday after a search warrant executed on his home led to the discovery of child pornography.

Shawn Mathew Williams, 19, of the 200 block of Sagar Drive, allegedly told investigators with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office that he had child pornography in his possession from girls as young as 11 years old, the criminal complaint states. The search warrant was executed after investigators received evidence from the Waynesboro Police Department on Dec. 4.

According to the criminal complaint in this case, Williams contacted the girls on the mobile messaging app Kik and the video app Skype, where he then allegedly traded nude photographs of himself with the girls. Williams also allegedly told investigators that he has purchased and attempted to sell child pornography as well, the complaint states. Investigators downloaded data from Williams’ cell phone where they allegedly found more evidence, the complaint states.

“On the phone there were at least four images of children under the age of 18…who were nude and engaged in sexualized behavior,” the criminal complaint states.

Williams was charged with four counts of child pornography possession, reproduction, distribution, solicitation and facilitation. A preliminary hearing was set for Jan. 25 in Warren County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District court. He remains held without bond at Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail.

This case is still under investigation. The Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that it is asking that anyone with information on this case to contact Sgt. Daniel Maxfield at 540-635-7100 or 540-636-5977.
