Man accused in attack to appear in court in February
A Front Royal man is facing charges of strangling and malicious wounding stemming from an incident in which authorities say he attacked a female victim at her residence.
The defendant, Steven Michael Jones, 51, of Front Royal, was arrested Jan. 9. His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 13.
The incident occurred Dec. 30 at the female victim’s residence, where Jones allegedly attacked her, according to Sgt. Jason Winner of the Front Royal Police Department. Winner said she suffered a broken nose.
Responding to a call from a neighbor, the police arrived to meet the victim at the scene.
Jones later turned himself in to the authorities on Jan. 9. He is being held in the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail.
