Mount Jackson man arrested on rape charges

Michael Jacob Simmons

The Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Mount Jackson man on one count of rape and one count of object sexual penetration at around 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Michael J. Simmons, 25, was arrested at his home at 13542 Senedo Road. He is being held in Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Jail without bond.

Sgt. G.R. Poe of the Sheriff’s Office said the alleged rape occurred at 6 a.m. Monday in Edinburg. He added that the victim knew Simmons prior to the incident, but there was no relationship between the two.

“He was on supervised probation, so as a result of those charges, his probation officer issued a probation violation, which we subsequently also served on him,” Poe said.

Simmons’ next court appearance is at 9 a.m. Feb. 2 in Shenandoah County General District Court.
