An unoccupied house in the 7000 block of Senedo Road in Mount Jackson suffered significant fire damage Friday around 8:20 a.m., according to Shenandoah County Assistant Fire Marshall Joe Loving.

The cause of the fire is still undetermined, Loving said, but he confirmed no one was in the house during the fire and the electricity leading into the structure had been switched off.

No one was injured.

The house was primarily used for storage, and the contents within the house “sustained significant smoke and water damage throughout,” Loving said. He estimated the total damage to the building and its contents at $75,000.

Loving asked anyone with information relating to the fire to contact the Fire Marshal at (540) 459-6167.
