Front Royal police phone lines still not fully operational

The Front Royal Police Department’s phone lines stopped working for approximately 12 hours between Friday night and Saturday morning, and continue to experience intermittent issues.

Chief Kahle Magalis said that only non-emergency calls have been affected, as all 911 calls go through the county dispatch center.

“There wouldn’t be a situation where a 911 call would be dropped, because there’s not a 911 call actually going into our dispatch center. It all goes into the county and then works from there,” he said.

The Police Department made a post on its Facebook page at 11:03 a.m. Saturday stating that its phones were once again operational.

“UPDATE: FRONT ROYAL POLICE DEPARTMENT phone lines are back up and running at 100%!! If you need police assistance call 540-635-2111,” the post read.

However, Magalis said Monday that the problems are still persisting for some calls.

“We’re still dealing with some of it,” Magalis said. “We’ve been working pretty hard with the providers to get all that squared away. Hopefully in the not-too-distant future we’ll have everything worked out.”

The department made another Facebook post at 5:06 p.m. Monday attesting “The Front Royal Police Department is still experiencing telephone issues.”

In the meantime, Front Royal police ask anyone who has trouble connecting with the department to try again or to contact the Warren County Sheriff’s Office at 540-635-4128.

“We’re not looking at a long-term situation here,” Magalis said. “We’re hoping to have it fixed sooner rather than later.”
