One hospitalized in Warren County crash

A Luray woman was hospitalized after a crash on U.S. 340-522 in Warren County on Sunday morning, according to Virginia State Police Public Information Officer Sgt. F.L. (Les) Tyler.

Frances Evans, 26, was southbound on U.S. 340-522 at about 6:30 a.m. when she lost control of her 2003 Ford Explorer, Tyler said. The vehicle traveled through the median just north of Country Club Road and collided with a northbound 2006 Volvo tractor trailer driven by Ranko Simovic, 53, of Fairfax. The tractor trailer ran off the right side of the road, struck a sign, and received minimal damage.

Evans was transported to Winchester Medical Center via ambulance.  Simovic was not injured.

The crash was investigated by Virginia State Trooper M.A. Lawson with assistance from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and Warren County Fire and Rescue. That portion of the road was closed during investigation, and re-opened at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Tyler said.

Evans was cited for reckless driving.
