Stabbing victim in critical but non-life-threatening condition

Front Royal police responded to a report of a stab wound at 613 S. Royal Ave. at approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim, Roger Allen Cameron Jr., suffered a stab wound to the chest, according to a Front Royal Police Department news release. The release stated he was transported to Warren Memorial Hospital and is listed in critical but not life-threatening condition.

The release also stated that Dennis Wayne Deaton was charged with malicious wounding and unlawfully stabbing another person in commission of a felony.

Deaton is being held at Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail without bond.

Front Royal Police Department officials did not respond to repeated requests for comment Tuesday. It is unclear if the two men were known to each other prior to the incident.
