10 students sent to hospital after school bus crash

FRONT ROYAL – A Monday morning crash involving a Warren County Public Schools bus resulted in 10 students being transported to a hospital emergency room with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Front Royal Police Capt. Crystal Cline.

Schools Superintendent Greg Drescher said that school officials are “all very thankful” that the students have since been released from the hospital and without any serious injuries.

The crash occurred when David G. Muterspaugh, of the 200 block of Freezeland Minor Road, was westbound on 2nd Street and ran a stop sign at the intersection with Royal Avenue, Cline said.

The front end of his 2017 Subaru then collided with 2005 school bus at the rear driver side near the wheelbase. Cline said the bus was traveling to A.S. Rhodes Elementary School and carrying 35 students.

Mutersbaugh was charged with a count of reckless driving and is due 9 a.m. April 24 in Warren County General District Court.
