Crash sends one to hospital

A crash on Interstate 81 at the Edinburg exit Friday morning sent one person to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

The crash occurred about 5 a.m. between a tractor-trailer rig and a box truck, said Corrine Geller, public relations manager for Virginia State Police.

A driver of one of the vehicles had to be transported to the hospital.

She did not know if any citations were issued but said the crash was still under investigation.

Sandy Myers, of the Virginia Department of Transportation, said the crash was more on the Edinburg exit ramp than on I-81, which was never entirely closed as the left lane was kept open.

The right lane of the interstate was closed from 6:50 to 7:30 a.m. to help with clearing up the crash site, she said.
