Police identify body from Clear Brook shooting

Police have identified the body of a woman they found deceased in the 200 block of Ruebuck Lane in Clear Brook over the weekend.

In a news release on Monday, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office identified the woman as Shayna E. Lacy, 39, of Bunker Hill, West Virginia.

Capt. Aleck Beeman, of the Sheriff’s Office, said that a family member identified her on Monday.

“[The Sheriff’s Office] went to who we thought it was, and the family member identified her,” Beeman said. “He was 100 percent sure, so they identified her.”

According to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office, police responded to a call on Saturday night for a shooting at a house on Ruebuck Lane. The owner of the house said that one or two people tried to break into his residence, according to the release.

When Lacy broke the owner’s bedroom window, the release states, the homeowner fired a shot out of his 12-gauge shotgun. Beeman said that Lacy died of the shotgun wounds.

Lacy’s body went in for an autopsy on Monday. Beeman said that the toxicology reports typically take between six and eight weeks to return.

Beeman added, “We can definitely say that she died from a gunshot wound.”

He said that the Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the shooting.
