Strasburg police arrest man with outstanding burglary warrant

Anthony O'Connor

Strasburg police have arrested a man on an outstanding warrant on burglary charges.

Police received a call about a suspicious person outside the 7-Eleven at 33982 Old Valley Pike in Strasburg. When they arrived at around 3:45 a.m. Sunday, they found Anthony O’Connor, 49, outside the building.

Police Chief Wayne Sager said an officer asked to see O’Connor’s ID.

“It’s just normal procedure that we do an ID or a license wanted check,” Sager said. “And they found that he had outstanding warrants out of the District of Columbia.”

According to records published on the District of Columbia Superior Court’s website, O’Connor was charged in September 2016 on two charges of second-degree burglary. After he failed to appear at a preliminary hearing in October 2016, an extraditable warrant was sent out for his arrest.

O’Connor is being held without bail in the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail in Warren County.

O’Connor’s arraignment hearing is Friday.
