Public hearing Tuesday on I-81 study

Government agencies working on developing a plan to study the entire length of I-81 are seeking input from the public.

Feedback provided by members of the community, industry, and others will be considered as agencies study the corridor. Concerned citizens are invited to attend the first of a series of planned meetings to provide input on safety and congestion concerns on I-81.

The public meeting for the Staunton District (north) will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Strasburg High School, 250 Ram Drive, Strasburg.

The study comes as a result of Senate Bill 971, which authorized a study to identify targeted improvement along the interstate and potential revenue sources. The bill was introduced by Sens. Mark Obenshain, R-Harrisonburg,  and Bill Carrico, R-Galax.
