Man accused of breaking into homes to steal food arrested
Warren County Sheriff’s Office deputies have arrested a man who is accused of breaking into homes and attempting to steal food.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. Friday, deputies were called to a wooded area on Saltlick Road in Linden about a suspicious person, said Sgt. Daniel Maxfield.
They found Petru Barba, 32, and took him into custody without incident.
Barba, of Fairfax, is believed to have been living in the woods in the Linden area. There have been several incidents within the last month allegedly involving Barba in Warren and Fauquier counties, Maxfield said.
Barba has been charged with breaking and entering and unlawful entry.
It is possible more charges could be filed stemming from earlier incidents, Maxfield said.
“It is still an active investigation and we are still exploring other avenues for the investigation,” he said.
Barba is being held at the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional jail without bond, jail staff said.
