Star Tannery man arrested after report of gun fired in home

The Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Star Tannery man for firing a weapon in his home Monday evening.

Shenandoah County Sheriff Capt. Wesley Dellinger said the office in the late hours of Monday evening received a report of a man who fired a weapon in a residence in the 700 block of Cedar Creek Road while someone was inside.

Deputies allege it was Bryan Dale Coffey who fired his gun while his ex-wife was inside the home. Dellinger said the weapon was never pointed in her direction. He said there was no argument between the two but that alcohol might have been a contributing factor to the incident. No one was harmed.

Coffey was charged with being in possession of or transporting a firearm while a convicted felon as well as maliciously discharging a firearm inside an occupied building.

Coffey has multiple arrests, including pleading guilty to a sex offense.
