Vehicle runs off mountain, driver transported to hospital

A Clear Brook woman was  transported to the hospital early Thursday morning after her vehicle went down an embankment off High Knob Road in Linden, according to Virginia State Police Sgt. F.L “Les” Tyler.

Tyler said that Terry D. Smelser, 55, was traveling along private property on High Knob Road about a mile off John Marshall Highway. He said that at about 3:20 a.m. she lost control of her 2003 Dodge Caravan.

Tyler said Smelser was heading into a sharp left curve and crashed into a right guardrail. Her vehicle then fell about 15 to 20 feet down an embankment and overturned. He said he does not know if charges were filed.

The wreck was investigated by Virginia State trooper A.W. Backus with assistance from Warren County Fire and Rescue.
