Cockpit sponsor pleads guilty
HARRISONBURG — The final defendant involved in a Page County cockfighting ring has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court.

Presgraves asks to help with budget
HARRISONBURG — Page County Sheriff Daniel W. "Danny" Presgraves, awaiting a federal trial on public corruption charges, is requesting that he be allowed to help the Sheriff's Office with next year's budget. When he placed the sheriff on bond, U.S. Magistrate Judge B. Waugh Crigler was emphatic in his warning that Presgraves not return to work or contact any potential witnesses.

Cockfighter appeals 12-month sentence
HARRISONBURG — Convicted cockfighter Charles Leo Kingrea, of Gordonsville, has appealed his sentence handed down last week in U.S. District Court. The appeal, filed online Tuesday, was expected as Kingrea, 62, stated in court that he felt that he wasn't treated justly. Judge Glen E. Conrad sentenced the man to serve 12 months of incarceration, six months at a to-be-determined facility and the other half at home.
