University to host study on fitness

Shenandoah University has announced that its physical therapy students need volunteers to participate in a research study to compare the cardiovascular effects of treadmill training vs Nintendo Wii participation.

Participants will be required to come in on two separate days and perform either treadmill training or play Just Dance 3 on the Wii for 30 minutes. A second visit will be scheduled no more than two weeks after initial visit.

Participants should expect participation to take up to an hour each session.

Participants must be individuals between the ages of 18 and 50, who have not had an injury or illness within the past three months.

There are no direct medical benefits or anticipated significant risks for participants with cardiovascular or pulmonary disease or diabetes. The study will be held at the Physical Therapy Department at 333 West Cork St.

For more information or to sign up as a participant, email Kim Owen at kowen10@su.edu.
