New Market Library program to discuss home canning, freezing

The New Market Area Library adult program for May, "Putting Foods By," was presented by Beverly Butterfield and Dottie Edwards. Butterfield talked about home canning and freezing; Edwards spoke on dehydrating food. The dozen participants had many questions and appreciated resources presented.

The New Market Area Library Program for June will be presented by Randall Orndorff, director of the Eastern Geology and Paleoclimate Science Center, U.S. Geological Survey in Reston. He has been with the USGS since 1981. He received undergraduate and graduate degrees in Geology from Old Dominion University and specializes in Appalachian and Ozarks geology, geologic mapping, and cave and sinkholes studies. Orndorff has published 80 papers and geologic maps.
