Rebecca Mathews wins award from Potomac State

Rebecca Mathews of Strasburg, an equine production and management major, won the Don S. Starcher Outstanding Agriculture and Forestry Freshman Award from Potomac State College of West Virginia University. The school recently honored students, faculty and staff with awards and recognition during its annual Weekend of Honors.

Mathews graduated from Sherando High School. She is the daughter of Kevin Mathews and the late Terri Mathews.

The Don S. Starcher Outstanding Agriculture and Forestry Freshman Award is given in memory of longtime professor Don Starcher, who worked with students in the greenhouse, served as the Ag Club advisor and as coordinator of farm operations.
