Civil War programs commemorate 150th anniversary

The Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation and its partners will commemorate the Second Battle of Winchester's 150th anniversary with a series of programs for young and old this weekend. The battle was a pivotal clash during Gen. Robert E. Lee's Gettysburg Campaign.

This weekend's programs will reflect on the battle and its impact and spotlight the sites in Winchester and Frederick County that still tell its history today. The programs will give residents and visitors the chance to experience the story of these pivotal events at the sites where they happened to see history come to life on hallowed ground.
