Grade level assessments to be released to parents by request

The Virginia Department of Education has announced it will release to parents, upon request, Virginia Alternate Assessment Program and Virginia Grade Level Assessment portfolios in accordance with the Virginia Public Records Act pertaining to "Examination Records" (scoring of non-graduation state required assessments).

Due to the large volume of collections stored, the VDOE will release portfolios of students who were in grades 3-7 during the 2011-2012 school year and 2008 graduates who participated in the grade 11 VAAP in 2006-2007. Requests should be submitted to Denise Walton by June 27. All remaining VAAP/VGLA portfolios will be disposed of in accordance with the disposition security guidelines as required by the Virginia Public Records Act.

For more information, contact Denise Walton, testing instructional specialist, at dwalton@wcps.k12.va.us or 540-635-2171, ext. 34244.
