Library plans for September book festival bus trip

The Friends of Handley Regional Library has announced it will sponsor a bus trip to Washington, D.C., in September to allow book lovers in the area to attend the 13th annual Library of Congress National Book Festival. A "save the date" announcement has been made early so participants can plan for the trip.

The bus will depart from Winchester on Sept. 21 and invites students, teachers, parents and other book lovers to attend the book festival, in which over 100 authors, poets and illustrators will participate.

Festival-goers can meet and hear first hand from their favorite writers, get books signed, have photos taken with PBS storybook characters and participate in other book-related activities.

Admission to the festival is free; the bus trip costs $25. For more information about the book festival, visit www.loc.gov/bookfest. For information about the bus trip, call Chrissie Beck at 540-667-6792 or Barbara Dickinson at 540-662-6046, ext. 31.
