Optimist Club honors last charter member Bob Bartley

The Optimist Club of Winchester recently honored its last remaining charter member, Bob Bartley, by dedicating its club shelter in Jim Barnett Park in his honor.

Bartley rose through the ranks of Optimist International holding virtually every high position. The club devotes most of its charity work to assisting young people and operates in all 50 states and in 26 other countries.

Bartley's last position was serving at the international office in St. Louis, Mo, for two years, by appointment of two international presidents. While there he served on the Leadership Development Committee and helped establish operational procedure for the entire organization, organize and supervise the International Conventions, select locations for the conventions, choose moderators and subjects for them to teach leaders of the clubs, select the main motivational speaker, serve as a moderator himself, and other assignments as needed.
