The Lord Fairfax Emergency Medical Services Council Inc honored the service provided by its Emergency Medical Services personnel at the council's regional award ceremony held June 12 at the Front Royal Fire Department in Front Royal.
Recipients of this year's regional awards competed for the 2013 Governor's EMS Awards, which will be announced at the Virginia EMS Symposium's Annual Awards Ceremony Nov. 10 in Norfolk. Winners will be presented with a trophy and a certificate signed by the governor.
Award recipients were as follows:
Jason Burns, chief of Blue Ridge Volunteer Fire & Rescue, for excellence in EMS
Jeffrey Unger of Frederick County Fire & Rescue, for outstanding contribution to EMS health and safety
Dr. Neal Gaither for physician with outstanding contribution to EMS
J.D. Orndorff of Winchester Fire & Rescue Department, for outstanding pre-hospital educator
Donna Dofflemyer, retired, for nurse with outstanding contribution to EMS
Julie Sours of Frederick County Emergency Operations Center, for outstanding EMS telecommunications dispatcher
Winchester Fire & Rescue Department for outstanding EMS agency
Victoria Hardesty of Clearbrook Volunteer Fire & Rescue, for outstanding contribution to EMS by a high school senior.
