Randolph-Macon Academy announces award winners


The following local students received awards during Randolph-Macon Academy's end-of-year ceremonies on May 13:

C. Grace Alexander, the daughter of Lyle and Melinda Alexander of Front Royal, received the American Citizenship Award for exhibiting outstanding citizenship behavior in and around the community. She also received certificates of appreciation from the Alumni Office for volunteering during Homecoming and development Thank-a-thons and from the Admission Office for voluntarily assisting the office. Grace was a junior at Randolph-Macon Academy during the 2012-13 school year.

Tanner Blankenship, the son of Daniel and Wendy Blankenship of Front Royal, received the American Citizenship Award for exhibiting outstanding citizenship behavior in and around the community. Tanner was a senior at Randolph-Macon Academy during the 2012-13 school year.

Elizabeth Doran, the daughter of Joe and Mariola Doran of Front Royal, received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Alumni Office for volunteering during Homecoming and development Thank-a-thons. She has just completed her senior year at Randolph-Macon Academy.

Faith Funderberg, the daughter of Ken and Susan Funderberg of Front Royal, received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Development Office for completing various projects. She has just completed her junior year at Randolph-Macon Academy.

Benjamin Gillis, the son of David Gillis of Front Royal and Gracie Gillis of Flint Hill, was presented the Rensselaer Medal and Merit Scholarship for distinguished achievement in mathematics and science. He also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Admission Office for voluntarily assisting the office with student recruitment efforts. He has just completed his junior year at Randolph-Macon.

Amy Gray, the daughter of Richard and Patricia Gray of Front Royal, received a Certificate of Excellence for Spanish II. She has just completed her sophomore year at Randolph-Macon Academy.

Taylor M. Jones, the daughter of Rick and Brenda Jones of Front Royal received the Certificate of Excellence for Spanish I. She has just completed her freshman year at Randolph-Macon.

Jonathan Pederson, the son of Stephen and Andrea Pederson of Front Royal, received the Certificate of Excellence for AP German. He has just completed his sophomore year at Randolph-Macon.

Shelby M. Sebring, the daughter of Barry and Tamala Sebring of Front Royal, received the Certificate of Excellence for German I. She has just completed her sophomore year at Randolph-Macon.

Johnny Wong, the son of Carol Cheng and Andy Wong of Front Royal, received the American Citizenship Award for exhibiting outstanding citizenship behavior in and around the community. He was also awarded third place in the Algebra II Division of the Mu Alpha Theta Competition. He has just completed his freshman year at Randolph-Macon.

William Wong, the son of Carol Cheng and Andy Wong of Front Royal, received the American Citizenship Award for exhibiting outstanding citizenship behavior in and around the community. He has just completed his freshman year at Randolph-Macon.

Caitlin Grace Bunker, the daughter of the Rev. Jonathan Bunker and Dr. Susan Gawalt of Berryville, received the Certificate of Excellence for College Spanish IV. She has just completed her junior year at Randolph-Macon.
