Wakefield's Liles earns more Eagle Palms

Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly has announced that Carl Liles, who graduated this year, was awarded the third and fourth Eagle Palms since becoming an Eagle Scout on Dec. 20, 2011. This accomplishment was recognized during a general Court of Honor held at the Washington Firehall on July 14. Each Eagle Palm requires the earning of five additional merit badges (to the 21 required for Eagle rank) and three months of additional service to his troop.

Liles is a member of Troop 36, led by Scout Leader Roger Pierson. Serving as junior assistant scoutmaster, Liles has helped the adult and Scout membership of his troop in accomplishing its goals. Liles is the first Troop 36 Scout to have earned four Eagle Palms, earning a total of 44 merit badges covering subjects from American Heritage to Woodcarving. Liles' Eagle Scout project was the building of a board fence at WCDS, bordering Zachary Taylor Highway.

He will attend the University of Virginia in the fall, and has been accepted to the United States Air Force ROTC program there.
