The Rotary Club of Linden has announced that Dave Hardy is the recipient of this year's Rotarian of the Year award. A charter member, past president and club secretary, Hardy is currently the club's administration chair and club communications officer as well as a member of the fundraising and service committees.
As the administration chair and club communications officer, Hardy manages the Linden club's district and public websites, develops club policies and procedures for consideration by the board of directors, trains club members on the use of the website and assigns members to committees. He oversees publishing of the club's weekly newsletter and scheduling of weekly programs. Hardy serves on Rotary International District 7570's IT and district awards committees and is the Area I Future Vision advocate.
Hardy retired from the U.S. Army in 1992 after serving for 21 years as an officer in the Signal Corps. After his retirement from the military, he worked for several defense contractors and most recently retired from Northrop Grumman. He is a Department of Defense certified program manager. He and his wife Carol, also a member of the Rotary Club of Linden, have been married for 42 years have two sons and five granddaughters.
Hardy was presented the Rotarian of the Year award by 2012-2013 club President Herb Rinehart at the Linden Rotary's annual awards ceremony on June 19.
Originally sponsored by the Rotary Club of Front Royal, the Rotary Club of Linden was chartered in April 2005 and has 38 active members. The club meets each Wednesday at 7 a.m. at The Apple House in Linden.
