Rockland Community Church annouces part-time pastor


Rockland Community Church, 2921 Rockland Road, Front Royal, has announced it has a new part-time pastor, Rev. Dr. Vince McLaughlin. McLaughlin was called in May to be the new part-time pastor and began preaching at Rockland in June.

McLaughlin was born in the United States but grew up in Scotland. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in biblical languages from Biola University, an M.Div. from Talbot Theological Seminary, an M.A. in biblical languages from Bethel University, an M.A./Ph.D. in Old Testament from Regent University's School of Divinity, a Th.D. from St. Luke's Anglican Seminary and a D.Litt. and Ph.D. in Hebrew literature and biblical Hebrew from Wolsey Hall College at Oxford's St. Alcuin House Seminary in the United Kingdom's. He also holds post-graduate degrees in laboratory and medical clinical sciences for pathology.

He holds holy orders from the Scottish Episcopal Church (formerly the Anglican Church of Scotland), the Anglican Church Worldwide and the Episcopal Missionary Church. In February 2004 he was conferred and ordained as a Messianic Jewish Rabbi of Beth Messiah. Currently he serves as the provost and academic dean and chairperson of the biblical studies and languages department at Valley Forge Christian College in Woodbridge.

McLaughlin is the author of numerous papers, most recently the book "Ruach in the Psalms" and the forthcoming "Threads of Theosis in the Tanakh."

He is married to Christine Marie McLaughlin and has three grown daughters and four grandchildren. He enjoys biblical languages and studies, motorcycles and working out at the gym.

Rockland Community Church will hold a vacation Bible school "The Good Shepherd" from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 19-23, for ages 4-11. On Aug. 28, a 16-week college credited course on the Old Testament will start at the church. Classes will be from 7 to 9:45 p.m.

At 8:30 a.m. Sept. 1, a morning worship service will be added on a trial basis for the month of September. Sunday night Bible study will return at 6 p.m., with the them Book of Revelation.
