Front Royal-Warren County C-CAP, an all volunteer operated organization that has been providing emergency food, clothing and financial assistance to distressed local families since 1978, has provided backpacks filled with school supplies to children of C-CAP families at the start of the school year. Most of the nearly 1,500 local families that C-CAP works with have poverty-level incomes and frequently can't afford the cost of the necessary school supplies.

This year, the School Supply Project was expanded to serve more children with the support of community churches, individuals and businesses like Wells Fargo Bank, Wal-mart and Applebee's. In September with publicity by radio station The River 95.3 and some very generous donations by members of the Zachry Industrial-Dominion Energy-Burns & McDonnell team, CCAP collected and distributed and distributed over 100 backpacks to elementary and middle school children.

CCAP exceeded its goal for the year and hopes to expand the program to serve more children next school year. A key CCAP project, it's designed to help children at a critical time in their development.
