The Shenandoah County Library has announced it received a grant to host Music with Kim and Jimbo for the summer reading program this past summer. The grant was from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Kim and Jimbo Cary, of Nelson County, perform happy, lively music about the animal world and life in the mountains. They use many instruments including banjo, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, bass and spoons.

Their songs are also tied to books which children can read from the library, which made them a perfect fit for the summer reading program at the county library and community libraries. The Carys have produced disks of their songs through Green Hills Music, some of which are available to check out in the library.

At various times in the performance, the duo will distributed instruments to the children so that they can play during certain songs.
