The New Market Area Library has announced its first ever summer reading program for middle and high school readers was a success, with 17 readers signed up for the program, and 13 of the readers turned in one or more reading logs. The total number of pages read was 74,181.
At the end of the program, all readers received a gift card from Books-A-Million for the first log turned in, and they were entered in a drawing for an electronic tablet for each log they completed. Readers also gave recommendations on books they especially liked; these were posted at the library for others to see.
The drawing for the electronic tablet for middle/high school readers was done at the celebration at the end of the program, and the lucky winner was James Shumway.
Plans are already in progress for next year's summer reading program for middle and high school readers. Ideas are welcomed.
