Frederick County Fire, Rescue announces award recipients
Frederick County Fire and Rescue Department has announced that it held an appreciation picnic for all volunteer and career personnel on Sept. 28 to express its gratitude for the services they provide to the citizens of Frederick County. Chief Chester Lauck of Round Hill Community Fire and Rescue and Pamela Keeler of Greenwood Volunteer Fire and Rescue were honored with the volunteer of the year award.
Chester Lauck was nominated by Lt. Jeremy Lauck, who wrote that the chief has been instrumental in securing grants. Grants have been awarded based on his penmanship for personal protective equipment, Hurst tools, a cascade system and a new medic unit currently being built.
Chester Lauck is the deputy emergency management coordinator for Frederick County and has held the title of chief at Round Hill Community Fire and Rescue for the past six years. He retired from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority in 2007 after serving more than 20 years as a federal firefighter.
The second award was given to Keeler with Greenwood Volunteer Fire and Rescue. She is the rescue lieutenant and treasurer for Greenwood, station 18. She also supplies coordinator for EMS, is a CPR instructor on the board of directors and is the treasurer for the Lord Fairfax EMS Council.
The career firefighter of the year award was presented to Specialist Jodi Jones, who was nominated by Captain Keith Jenkins for her commitment and hard work on pre-planning and mapping for the Lutheran Home at Orchard Ridge. The plans that were developed by Jones are being used for training currently being conducted in order to familiarize crews on the outlay of the complex. She has been a career firefighter with Frederick County for 12 years and is a certified medic, ALA preceptor, a fire instructor and an infection control officer.
