Historic Jordan Springs event producer Colt Nutter has announced the 2013 Charity Christmas Events and Tours theme, "Gifts of the Season," at 1160 Jordan Springs Road, Stephenson. Every design will be new this year and promises to be the biggest display in the nearly 40 years that owners Greig and Tonie Wallace-Aitken have been making the displays.
Each year, the rooms' décor changes. The main entry will feature an all LED lighting design with hundreds of feet of shimmering satin fabric and stacks of signature "gifts." The chapel will showcase a nearly 8-foot gift suspended above guests' heads. The historic 2,500-square foot ballroom will be done in a brand new design scheme, as a winter wonderland theme will be brought to life with a custom light show.
Among the tours are a host of other events, including the candlelit Christmas ghost tour, the Christmas tea and the main Christmas wine-paired dinner and concert featuring "An Elvis Christmas."
Last year, nearly 1,000 visitors came to see the decorations at Historic Jordan Springs. Each tour night is designated to a local charity, and all of the proceeds go to that charity. As part of the philanthropic effort, guests are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or unwrapped toy to be distributed to local families in need. Since its inception, the charity tours have generated nearly $100,000 in food, toy and monetary donations.
