The Shenandoah County Retired Teachers Association has announced that a group of retired educators including teachers, administrators, secretaries, custodians, bus drivers and instructional assistants who worked as educators, met in December at Triplet Tech in Mount Jackson.

Dr. Jeremy Raley, superintendent of Shenandoah County Public Schools, spoke to the group about the school division's direction and how community members can become involved on action teams. A food drive was held with $44 cash and 250 pounds of food collected for the Compassion Cupboard Food Pantry in Strasburg. The group collects food for a different food pantry in the county each year. Chef Paje Cross and her culinary arts students at Triplett Tech prepared lunch.

The next meeting of the group will be a dinner meeting on May 6 at Peter Muhlenberg Middle School in Woodstock. Membership is open to any retired educator, regardless of where they worked.
