New Market set to host sesquicentennial conference March 8

The Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation is hosting a slew of events this year to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Civil War activity in the valley.

The first event, a sesquicentennial conference on March 8 titled, "May God Forgive Me for the Order: The War Returns to the Valley," and covering the period from May to July 1864, will feature numerous Civil War historians and authors, including Ted Alexander, Eric Campbell, Charles Knight, Jonathan Noyalas and Scott Patchan.

The conference will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Virginia Museum of the Civil War in New Market. Attendance is $20 per person and box lunches are available for an additional $10.
