The Shenandoah Valley Westminster-Canterbury has announced that resident George Burgess collaborated with Maryland artist Catherine Kapikian on her latest design, which she recently installed at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in suburban Washington D.C.

This is the second time the two have collaborated on a project -- the first being at the SVWC chapel's prayer niche.

The new installing, designed through needlework by Kapikian and built by Burgess at the SVWC's state-of-the-art woodworking shop, is displayed in the meditation area across from the Surgical ICU at Walter Reed.

According to a press release from SVWC, Kapikian was inspired by the idea of infinity through the Fibonacci Series, an operating principle of nature, suggesting hidden meaning behind structure.

Walter Reed National Military Medical Center is one of the principle places in the country that cares for the wounded warriors.

For more information about Catherine Kapikian, visit her website at www.catherinekapikian.com or email ckapikian@gmail.com. Westminster-Canterbury is located at 300 Westminster Canterbury Drive, Winchester. Contact SVWC at 540-665-0156.
