The 87th Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival has announced that Skyline High School and Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal are among the winners of the Grand Feature Parade Music Awards.
Randolph-Macon Academy won awards for outstanding drum major and military school band, and Skyline won third place among the class B bands to perform in Winchester on Saturday.
Other winners among the class B bands were Grove High School of Grove, Oklahoma, which won first, and Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, Maryland, which won second.
Jefferson High School of Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia, won first place of the class A bands and also won outstanding auxiliary band.
Among class C bands, Mardela Middle and High School of Mardela Springs, Maryland, won first place and National Collegiate Preparatory Public Charter High School of Washington, D.C., won second.
In the overall awards, Jefferson won the Lion's Award (first place overall), Fort Hill won the President's Award (second place overall) and Mardela won the Director's Award (third overall).
Mardela also won the sweepstakes award for best band in the festival.
