Frederick County Public Schools earns awards

The Chesapeake Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (CHESPRA) has presented Frederick County Public Schools with nine awards in recognition of communications excellence.

R-MA welcomes Falcon Foundation scholars

Five new Falcon Foundation scholars were recognized during an Aug. 27 ceremony after they spent more than a week training with cadet leaders at the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps at Randolph-Macon Academy, according to a news release from the school.

Area students awarded credit union scholarships

The following area graduating students have been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the DuPont Community Credit Union: Jonathan Kloosterman of Strasburg High School, Katelyn Foltz of Central High School and Brittany Goldman of Stonewall Jackson High School.

Chelsea Academy honors eighth grade graduates at formal dinner

June 10th, 2014

The Chelsea Academy held a formal dinner for eighth grades and their parents at the recent Eighth Grade Class Night celebration. Dinner was prepared and served by the faculty and staff, and more than 40 attended the event. Jonathan Brand, headmaster of the school, addressed guests, and the evening concluded with original limericks recited by classmates and faculty for each member of the class.

WCDS students design amusement park rides

White House Foods donates to LFCC foster youth program

David Gum, president and CEO of the National Fruit Product Company, recently presented a $32,500 check to Carla Newman, coach for the Great Expectations program for foster youth at Lord Fairfax Community College.

Courtney Huffman graduates from Campbell University

Courtney Huffman of Maurertown recently graduated from Campbell University’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences in Buies Creek, North Carolina. Huffman graduated with her bachelor of science in pharmaceutical sciences degree and received the Pharmaceutical Sciences Student Leadership Award.

Tanner Orndorff graduates from GMU

Tanner Orndorff graduated from George Mason University in Fairfax on May 15. He received an award for academic excellence. Orndorff earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology, law and society.
