What's happening now?
By Linda Ash It has always bothered me to see wire copy on the front of our Valley Scene section. It just didn't make sense to me to see a story with a Sacramento, Calif., dateline on a section that is called Valley Scene - even though Sacramento is actually located in a valley. [I know that firsthand since I moved from that area to this valley five years ago. And did you know that there's a Shenandoah Valley in Northern California? It's in Amador and El Dorado counties. Anyway, I digress.] More changes to the print edition of the Northern Virginia Daily are planned. A launch date has not yet been specified, but likely in the next few weeks we will be replacing Valley Scene with a Features section on Wednesdays, a Business section on Thursdays and an Entertainment section on Fridays. There will be a Valley Scene section on Saturdays and it will include hyper-local news - much of which will be submitted by you, our readers, through our Virtual Newsroom online. [To submit your news, please visit www.nvdaily.com and click on the Virtual Newsroom link in the top right corner of our home page.] Reader engagement editor Josette Keelor, jkeelor@nvdaily.com, will plan content for each of the new sections, and we're aiming to feature local stories each day on those section fronts. The new sections signal a change in coverage by our news reporters. Each reporter has been asked to produce a local feature story and a local business story each week in addition to daily news stories. The reporter who works on Saturday will be writing a roundup of weekend events for the Friday entertainment section. If you have feature and / or business story ideas, please email me, lash@nvdaily.com, or a reporter who covers your area directly:
