Gasoline since July 20, 2012 has gone up 30 cents a gallon at the Toms Brook truck stops. Beef and chicken prices are up because of the heat and severe weather the nation has been experiencing. Foods containing corn, which is just about all foods, are more expensive. The price of eggs and dairy products are up. The Northern Virginia Daily has raised the price of its Saturday edition. The only thing not going up are wages for the masses and many people are unemployed.
In the midst of the worst economic recovery from a major recession since The Great Depression, the people who have an economic stranglehold on the nation have decided to get theirs and too bad for everyone else.
I grew up in a nation where people cared for their neighbor. I grew up in a nation where people planted gardens, raised chickens for food and eggs, had a cow for milk, raised beef and hogs for food. We canned vegetables, chickens, fruits and berries. We had food freedom. Now the nation has given up its food freedom for the luxury of the fast food and the grocery mega store. What a terrible loss.
The Northern Virginia Daily is a luxury, not a necessity. I am now saving one dollar every Saturday. Thank you.
